A Glimpse

Vein Full of Gold

There’s a coat on my heart, it’s a well worn patina
There’s a fighter in my blood, he never leaves the arena
There’s a song on my lips, tells the world that I mean it.

Have a spirit that hides, makes my body a dwelling
There’s a thorn in my side, always prone to rebel it
But there’s a peace a birthright, gives me sleep every night

There’s a guide for the road, one that cracks every code
There’s a glimpse every time I let go.

Got to work for the rent, still have bills I resent
Keep some dollars and cents, couple loaves and some fish
Got a car that still runs, got some friends I still love

Have a wife and a child, neither meek nor too mild
Got my health for today, says my blood in a vial
And there’s a calm that comes down, in a still small sound

There’s a guide for the road, one that cracks every code
There’s a glimpse every time I let go.
